In my happy place, Southwold, Suffolk
I grew up in the Hampshire countryside, its natural beauty influencing me a lot. My childhood memories mainly consist of climbing trees, making dens, going for bike rides, fishing for sticklebacks, walking through fields full of cows, and generally being a true country bumpkin. Like many others, the lights and smoke of London intrigued me, life happened and I’m still there, though I am still a country girl at heart and will be on the coast in Suffolk or the chalk streams of Hampshire when you can’t find me in the city. My rural roots have left their mark and I’m inspired by aritsts & Illustrators I’ve loved since then such as Edward Hopper, The Pre-Raphaelites, Jill Barklem, Jane Pilgrim, E.H.Shepard, Quentin Blake and Beatrix Potter seeping into my subconscious . . .
Creating art has always been my passion and where I feel most comfortable and capable. It was only natural for me to pursue it further as a career. After school, I went on to pursue a foundation course at Winchester School of Art gaining a distinction, followed by 3 years studying a BA hons fine art at Chelsea College of Art & Design.
After graduating from University I focused on the business side of illustration, establishing a successful career spanning a decade working as an art agent in central London, liaising with many of the world’s leading publishers, advertising & PR agencies, building up a rapport with a wealth of freelance illustrators & clients. Those years have taught me a lot about the industry and have been essential to my development as an artist, finding my style and and knowing what clients are looking for on a project and delivering it seamlessly.
I am now a full time artist living with my husband and two children in SE London.
I work predominantly in watercolour with all of my murals in acrylic. I enjoy exhibiting my work and I have original paintings, prints and greetings cards for sale in galleries and shops throughout the UK. You can also book me for your events as a live portrait artist.
